THE SHED | our story

Functional. Handmade. Always Unique.

Where it happens | The Shed

Unlike most woodworking businesses, our workshop isn’t a big industrial space—it’s a humble shed behind our home. And honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s in this small, familiar space that we stretch our creativity, experiment with new ideas, and craft pieces that speak louder than any storefront ever could. For us, it’s not about scale—it’s about intention, innovation, and building something meaningful, one piece at a time.

Our Mission

Throughout history, the artistry and skill of women and gender nonconforming individuals in woodworking have been overlooked, their contributions dismissed and relegated to different labels. Yet, their passion for woodworking has always burned brightly, undeterred by societal norms. It’s time to rewrite this narrative, to amplify their voices and celebrate their craft.

We aspire to carve out a larger space in the woodworking community, one that embraces and empowers marginalized woodworkers. Our mission is to forge connections among LGBTQ+ woodworkers, fostering a supportive network where talents can flourish and stories can be shared. Together, we advocate for inclusivity and representation, ensuring that every voice is heard and every hand is recognized in the rich tapestry of woodworking.

In the heart of the Hudson Valley, we are a family shaping wood with tradition, guided by history, and grounded in community. Each piece we make carries the quiet story of craft, built to last and made to belong.

Our Philosophy

Welcome to YeaWeBuiltThat, your destination for exquisite wooden pieces designed to elevate your home, kitchen, and office spaces. In every piece we create, our goal is to hit that sweet spot where beauty meets practicality, so you end up with items you’re genuinely stoked to use and proud to showcase.

In a world filled with mass-produced goods, we take pride in creating items that tell a story. Our journey began with a passion for woodworking and rooted in traditional knowledge of Japanese, Chinese and Indian styles. Each item we create carries more than just form and function—it carries a sense of belonging. These pieces are shaped by hand, inspired by heritage, and made to be part of the moments that matter: family meals, shared celebrations, quiet mornings, and lively homes.

This is more than woodworking—it’s memory in the making. It’s our way of honoring community, passing down tradition, and building beauty that lasts.

Thank you for being a part of our journey towards a more sustainable and beautifully crafted world.
